As you step through the door, you’re greeted not only by the rich aroma of organic coffee but also by the friendly smiles of the staff. Each cup of coffee is crafted with care, from the smooth lavender latte that Marissa Kizitaff raves about to the bold, flavorful brews that keep patrons coming back for more. But Roots Cafe is not just about the coffee. The menu boasts an array of gluten-free baked goods and delicious meals made from real, wholesome ingredients. As noted by Monica Jerminario, the baked goods strike a perfect balance, avoiding the overwhelming sweetness often found in cafes. Whether you're enjoying a freshly made frittata or trying out one of their delightful pastries, you can be assured of the quality and taste.
The cafe’s atmosphere is another standout feature. It invites patrons to linger a little longer, whether by playing board games, reading from their curated library, or simply enjoying the cozy decor. As Mimi Reeder highlighted, it’s remarkable how such a busy spot maintains excellent service while creating a welcoming environment. This is where you can truly feel at home while sipping on iced coffee during the warmer months or enjoying a comforting breakfast indoors in the cooler seasons.
Roots Cafe also embraces the spirit of giving back to the community. They generously provide a selection of books and Bibles, making it a special place for those seeking encouragement and inspiration. As Heidi Dunn mentions, this thoughtful touch truly sets Roots Cafe apart, making it a spot for reflection and connection.
In short, whether you’re in the mood for a refreshing smoothie, a hearty salad, or simply a quiet place to reflect with a good book, Roots Cafe delivers on all fronts. It’s a bright spot in Westbrook, where the food is delicious, the coffee is exceptional, and the atmosphere is nothing short of inviting. Make it your next destination, and you’ll understand why so many have come to LOVE this gem.
“ We LOVE Roots Cafe. This is my son's favorite place to go on a breakfast date together. Their lavender latte is SO good. The atmosphere is perfect for playing a board game, reading your devotional/Bible, or for catching up with friends or family. The staff is also incredible! I always leave so encouraged by their kindness. I have also scheduled meetings with people at Roots-most of them are struggling in various seasons of life. Roots Cafe generously offers a variety of books and Bibles for free (1 per person) or via honor system (borrow & return). I am able to meet with people there and they can leave with their first very own Bible or with a book to read for encouragement. I LOVE Roots and I am grateful for all that it has to offer for me, my friends, and my family! ”
“ We absolutely love this place! Every time we are able to get down to that area we make sure we stop by. The coffee is amazing and the pacers are so so good. The atmosphere here is wonderful. ”
“ First time here. Have been driving by many time and never had the chance to stop. My daughter and I had a beautiful time. The food and the service were amazing. Absolutely love the atmosphere. It was busy and rightfully so. I can see why. If you have a chance definitely check it out. ”
“ All offerings are gluten free which is so appreciated. We grabbed breakfast a few times while hanging around Portland and really enjoyed what they created. Loved that their baked goods weren't insanely sweet! They were busy the three times we went, but service didn't suffer. ”
“ Organic coffee, gluten free baked goods, real ingredients...just a few of the things I love about Roots Cafe. Always served by a smiling employee in an atmosphere that says come, enjoy, stay awhile. Whether I want a cozy spot inside to sip a warm latte while enjoying a freshly made frittata, or to enjoy an iced coffee and strawberry fields salad outside during the warmer months, or to just grab a smoothie or gluten free dessert for the road, Roots delivers. Being able to peruse their free library or local handmade gifts for sale while I wait for my order is always a highlight. A true bright spot in the Westbrook community. ”
